House speaker: SC to likely get sued, lose
South Carolina's House Speaker says that he expects the state to be sued after a state board decided to increase employees' health care costs in contradiction of the budget that the Legislature passed. Governor Nikki Haley is the chairman of the board, and convinced them to override the Legislature. She says that state workers need to pay more, rather than burdening tax payers. Legislators say that state funding of health care cost increases was part of an agreement the meant no increases in pay, but fewer costs for workers.
