House votes to block rule revision for overtime pay
On Thursday, the House voted to block proposed revisions to rules governing overtime pay. Although the vote has no binding effect, it is seen a victory for organized labor, and may make passage of the bill more complicated. The revised overtime rules are opposed by Democrats and unions who say that at least 8 million white-collar workers now required to get overtime would lose it due to new definitions of jobs that would be exempt from the extra pay.
