How differences in employment laws in the US and UK have impacted unemployment
In the US, unemployment and labor shortages have been negatively impacting the economy, while the UK has maintained steady, low unemployment rates over the last few decades. One of the major factors contributing to these differences is how the employment rights vary in each nation. The US does not strictly govern the relationship between employers and employees, and US workers are not protected from being fired due to at-will employment doctrines in place. However, in the UK there are much stronger worker protections and unemployment benefits, and salaries have been rising faster than in the US.
