Hundreds of migrant worker fatalities reported in relation to the building of the Qatar World Cup stadium
Recently, the chief of the World Cup announced that upwards of hundreds of migrant workers died while working on projects related to the World Cup stadium in Qatar. The estimations of labor and human right violations associated with the 2022 tournament far exceed the figures that the Qatari government has released. Qatar's workforce is largely comprised of migrant workers, and the World Cup fatalities have reflected an invigorated need for labor reform in the country to protect this vulnerable population of workers.
