Hundreds of postal workers targeted in cyber attack, resulting in stolen paychecks and anger over inadequate security measures
Recently, cyber criminals targeted US Postal Service workers in an online scheme where they stole workers' passwords to their payroll system and redirected and stole their paychecks. As a result, many postal workers have had numerous paychecks stolen and are angry at the federal government for downplaying warnings of unusual log-in activity to the payroll system. The USPS has expressed sympathy for the affected workers but claims that it is not responsible for the security breach. The unions representing postal workers disagree with the USPS refute of culpability and have filed a national dispute grievance on the matter.
