Hundreds of Thousands Protest French Labor Law
Hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets of French cities today in demonstrations against the new labor law put forth by Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin. Police estimated the number of protesters at 450,000 (not including the hundreds of thousands marching in Paris), and one of the country's largest unions put the total turnout at 3 million. The demonstrations correspond with multi-industry strikes coordinated to support those protesting the new law.
