Hyatt O'Hare workers stage one-day strike
Hundreds of workers at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare hotel in Rosemont walked out this morning, participating in a string of union protests at Hyatt hotels across the country and in Canada. Workers at the Hyatt say that they are protesting the under staffing and lack of a new contract. A spokesman for Unite-Here Local 450, which represents 400 of the hotel's employees said that the hotel chain is profitable, but they want workers to take cuts anyways. Contracts for Hyatt workers and other hotel workers expired on August 31, 2009. The hotel says that they have been participating in the bargaining sessions in good faith. The strike is expected to end at 10 p.m.
