IKEA found guilty of spying on French employees
IKEA, the world’s largest furniture retailer, was ordered by a French court to pay $1.2 million after being found guilty of spying on French employees. The court found that IKEA was guilty of improperly gathering and storing personal data on their employees like accessing their personal finances and targeting union leaders. 15 employees faced accusations in the trial, 2 were found not guilty and the rest faced 5,000 euro fines and several suspended prison sentences. IKEA issued a statement condemning the practices of IKEA France and will put a plan in place to prevent this from happening again.
