Illinois governor expected to sign bill into law guaranteeing paid leave for all workers
In Illinois, a bill that is expected to be signed will be sent to the governor soon that would guarantee a minimum of 40 hours of paid leave for all workers. If signed into law, the legislation would take effect at the start of 2024 and enshrine protections for work-life balance. Unions and workers' rights groups are in support this initiative; however, Republicans in the Illinois Senate are opposed to the bill, arguing that it will hurt small businesses.
