IMF says Spain making progress but calls for urgent action to slash unemployment
A report released by the International Monetary Fund on Wednesday made a somewhat hopeful prognosis for Spain?s economic recovery. The report praised the country?s stabilizing reforms, but stressed the imminence of tackling the high unemployment rate. With joblessness at 27 percent, the IMF recommended that Spain proceed with labor reforms and a jobs strategy that would nurture growth. In light of the dismal jobs market, many of the country?s young and educated people are considering emigrating elsewhere within the Eurozone.
