Immigrants emigrating from Calif. and N.Y.
A new Census report indicates that immigrants are leaving more crowded and expensive states in search of a better quality of life and better jobs. The report also shows that fewer new immigrants are settling in what were formerly immigrant magnet states such as California, New York, Florida, Texas, Illinois, and New Jersey. Data that will provide a more detailed picture of state-to-state movement will be released in the future. The report is available at http://www.census.gov/prod/2003pubs/censr-8.pdf
