Impact of minimum wage hike likely a wash, UNL economist says
Voters in Nebraska will vote November 4 on a measure to raise the state's minimum wage to $9 an hour by 2016. Observers say that Initiative 425 has a strong chance of passing, aided largely by the efforts of advocacy group Nebraskans for Better Wages. While opponents of the measure claim the increase will be a hardship on small businesses and slow the state's economic growth, many economists feel Nebraska's economy will feel little, if any, impact.
