In Aging Germany, Refugees Seen as Tomorrow's Skilled Workers
In Berlin, it is estimated that the working population in 2030 will decrease by 6 million people due to an aging workforce. However, the country believes that it can supplement its workforce by employing refugees who are seeking asylum. There are programs established so that the refugees can develop language and math skills. Many immigrants have joined trade unions where they are protected from labor exploitation and are able to earn a fair wage.
