In Canada, federal workers on strike to demand pay raises and permanent remote work options
In Canada, hundreds of thousands of federal workers have gone on strike in protest of various contract issues, including remote work options and wages. Some workers are frustrated that their wages have not kept pace with inflation. As a result of the strike, various government services have been disrupted, including income tax returns, refund checks are expected to be disrupted, border crossings, and visa and passport applications. The Canadian government has offered a pay raise, but union members do not believe the offered percentage is large enough and are also continuing to fight for permanent work from home options.
