In 'Important Step,' U.S. Women's Soccer Team Reaches New Labor Deal
The U.S. women's national soccer team reached a union contract agreement with U.S. soccer. Although neither party has released the details of the collective bargaining agreement, the players will apparently receive increased base pay, bonuses, and travel provisions. It is estimated that the new contract could double the money made by some players. The player's last contract expired in 2012, and negotiations since then have been lengthy, with the sport's team going to court last year to explore the possibility of striking. The women's team's wage-discrimination complaint, filed in 2016, does not yet have an outcome.
