In South Korea, Park's Revamp of Rigid Labor Laws Faces Opposition
In Korea, thousands of recently graduated citizens are struggling to find steady employment. Now, President Park is pushing for a new policy that would make it considerably easier for companies to fire underperforming employees. In addition, the proposal includes plans to increase unemployment insurance, shorten work hours and set pay based upon merit. Korean unions worry that this type of reform would harm job security even more.
