Ind. teachers unions hope Congress helps states
A bill to help states avoid school cuts is gaining support from teachers' unions. The president of the Indiana State Teachers Association said that money from the bill could save up to 7,200 jobs in his state alone. He says that the bill is just a temporary fix until the economy rebounds, but that it could help right now. The bill is only in the draft stages now, but many educators whose jobs are threatened hope that the bill does pass, to help save their jobs. Indiana could get up to $300 million if Congress approves the bill.
