Indian Economy Leaves Workers Behind
The Indian economy has experienced growing success in manufacturing due to its relatively well-educated labor force and the benefits of globalization. However, increased efficiency and restrictive labor laws have made employers reluctant to hire new workers. More than 90 percent of Indian workers are employed as farm laborers or in other menial jobs. Some experts are optimistic that with the proper policy adjustments, India?s boom in manufacturing will translate into employment gains in other industries.
