Indian pharmacies to strike in growing backlash against ecommerce
On Wednesday, as many as 850,000 pharmacies in India will participate in a strike by closing their businesses for the day. These pharmacists are protesting the growing popularity of online pharmacies that have appeared in the country. These protestors claim that online pharmacies are filling falsified prescriptions and therefore violating the law. In addition to taking business away from traditional pharmacies, people are worried that these online marketplaces will allow citizens in the country to abuse the system through the use of fake prescriptions.
