Indiana University grad students plan to strike
On Monday in a vote of 1,008 to 23, Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition members voted to authorize a strike. The strike will take place on Wednesday to demand increased pay and benefits, better job security, union recognition, and increased protections for international graduate students. IGWC members want the university to recognize their union election results and negotiate with members in good faith. In an email sent on April 5th, IU Bloomington Provost Rahul Shrivastav said, “I do not believe that we need a union to improve graduate education and I will not re-visit this decision.”
