'Inhuman' Conditions for Workers Overshadow Qatar World Cup, Unions Say
The International Trade Union Confederation and Building Workers International are asking the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), and the Qatari government to prove that migrant workers being used to build the stadiums for the 2022 soccer World Cup are treated fairly. The groups released a report that says that migrants have very unsafe working and living conditions and have very few rights. The unions say that country and FIFA need to do better to regulate the working conditions of the workers. Qatar has said that it will invest $88 billion in infrastructure for the World Cup.
