After last week?s ruling in California that an Uber driver is an employee and not an independent contractor, similar shared and virtual labor companies are searching for solutions to avoid labor issues. Instacart, a grocery delivery service, is starting to hire its grocery shoppers as actual company employees. The company?s delivery drivers are still considered independent contractors. Laws and regulations for this app-based industry are almost nonexistent.
