IRS to hire 10,000 workers this year
The IRS has announced a massive hiring spring in the coming year to deal with their massive backlog of over 20 million unprocessed returns. They are hoping to fill 5,000 open positions in the coming months and an additional 5,000 over the course of the next year. Although, new hires have a rigorous 12-week training process that will prevent new hires from providing a boost for current tax season. One expert said, “If you hire somebody tomorrow, maybe by summer they’ll be up and operational.”
