Is Recovery Without Jobs Now the Norm?
As the economy continues to improve without adding a significant number of new jobs, some are beginning to question if full employment recovery is possible. Some economists feel that fundamental changes in the economy such as the increased use of technology, rising productivity rates and the outsourcing of work to foreign countries mean that economic growth will not necessarily create jobs. This has led to concern that sustained unemployment will dampen consumer demand which is necessary to fuel economic recovery.
