IU workers rally for better wages
Indiana University staff rallied Saturday, demanding better wages and healthcare, and showing support for the Employee Free Choice Act. About 75 people attended, with signs, T-shirts, and buttons expressing union support. The event included speakers such as Congressman Baron Hill, who expressed support for labor unions. The Communications Workers of America Local 4730 President Peter Kaczmarczyk also spoke at the rally, suggesting that the demand for better pay should center on IU recognizing the importance of its support staff. IU has not yet finalized its budget for the coming year, delaying an official response to union demands.
