Japan workers protest massive wave of job cuts
About 200 unionized workers protested outside of Japan's biggest business lobby group headquarters today. The workers rallied against a string of massive layoffs from Japanese companies like Sony, Toyota, and Nissan. The group expressed anger that firms are sacrificing employees to save costs. Contract and seasonal workers have been especially targeted, with some workers losing company-owned housing as well. The government is responding to the concern, and claiming it will work to implement job security measures.
