JetBlue Airways faces first union election
As of yet, airline JetBlue has operated union-free, but a union election is scheduled for the first time next month. JetBlue pilots will be voting to unionize for the purpose of collective bargaining with the airline which has recorded negative profits for three years ? heightening its concerns over the possible increase in labor costs unionization would likely bring. Union leaders hope to model bargaining after the their strategy at Southwest Airlines. JetBlue has also expressed concern over management/labor conflict as a result of the union, but Southwest management has mostly experienced good relations with its unions.
