JetBlue pilots fail to secure votes to form union
Union efforts at JetBlue hit a setback today when the JetBlue Pilots Association failed to secure at least 50% of votes in favor of organizing. In fact, just 33% of JetBlue's 1937 pilots voted in support of the union, pleasing the airline's management which has been against the drive from the start. The JetBlue Pilots Association, which decided not to associate with a larger national union such as the Airline Pilots Association, maintains that the organizing drive was not a response to labor/management dispute. Rather, the union was formed to address possible future changes at the airline. Supporters of the union haven't lost hope just yet, and hope to secure another vote within a year.
