JetBlue's pilots' recent announcement of intentions to form a union spurred a management response that "a direct relationship" with employees is preferable. The JetBlue Pilots Associate has already filed a petition with the National Mediation Board, hoping to represent the carrier's 2,000 pilots. The union does not wish to be affiliated with the national pilots union. Union officials claim to be preparing for potential organizational changes in the future ? not responding to any current disputes with JetBlue.
