Job sites criticized on privacy protection
Pam Dixon, head of the World Privacy Forum, is urging job seekers to demand more privacy protections from career Web sites, recruitment services and automated job-application kiosks. She claims that job sites and recruitment services often mishandle sensitive information and allow it to get in the hands of third parties. Even resumes that are not submitted online may be processed through online databases. Eliyon Technologies Corp. is a private company that keeps files on executives that it then sells to headhunters, employers and companies seeking leads for sales pitches.
