Job training programs on the rise for transgender workers, an often-marginalized population
Training programs for transgender workers have been created around the country, in an effort to serve a population that is often marginalized. Studies show that transgender people often have problems finding employment. The training programs teach skills like resume writing, and other workplace skills. A survey found that 90% of those who responded had faced harassment or discrimination in the workplace. 15 states and the District of Columbia have laws that prevent discrimination based on gender identity, but advocates say it is still hard for transgender employees to find work.
