Jobless Claims Surge Unexpectedly
Initial U.S. jobless claims surged unexpectedly last week, to their highest level since late September. According to a Labor Department analyst the numbers were higher than expected because of difficulties with seasonal adjustments. People are advised to watch the four-week moving average, which is viewed as a better gauge of labor market health.
