Jobs Friday: US nonfarm payrolls at 203,000; unemployment rate at 7%
The U.S. economy saw 203,000 jobs added to nonfarm payrolls in November. This number was higher than the average expected by economists who had been polled. The unemployment rate fell to 7%, the lowest rate seen in over 5 years. Most of the job gains were in higher paying industries like professional and business services, manufacturing, and construction. The past month also saw earnings and the average work week increase to $24.15/hour and 34.5 hours respectively.
