Judge blocks union election at American Airlines
A judge has issued an order stopping a union representation election for passenger service agents at American Airlines. The election was scheduled to run from June 21 to August 2, with workers voting on whether they wanted to be represented by the Communications Workers of America. The judge found that American Airlines would likely win a lawsuit against the National Mediation Board, which would oversee the election for the 10,000 agents. A hearing has been scheduled for June 21 to determine in the NMB overstepped its authority in allowing the election to go forward after rules around how workers need to sign cards for an election to take place changed.
