Judge orders end to 16-month lockout of Flatbush Gardens workers
A federal judge has ordered that the owners of a large apartment complex in Brooklyn end a 16-month lockout of their workers. The 70 workers will be allowed back to work, but the judge said that the workers have to take a 20% pay cut while negotiations for a new contract resume. The owners locked out the workers in November 2010 after the workers refused to take a 20-30% pay cut. The National Labor Relations Board charged the owners with failure to bargain and providing false information. The union said that they are pleased with the judges order, as did the company.
