A labor judge in Michigan has recommended that the lawsuit against an anti-right-to-work clause in a teacher contract be dismissed. The clause in the 10-year agreement protects the union?s right to collect dues and service fees, despite a state law which limits unions ability to collect dues from unwilling members. The lawsuit has already been dismissed once, in July of 2013. Both the administrative law judge and the Wayne County Circuit Court judge believe that it is not the government?s job to change already signed, lawful contracts. The clause was part of the concessions the district made, while the teachers took a 10% pay cut and conceded ground on other issues.
