Judiciary Employees Demand More Comprehensive Sexual Harassment Policies
A year ago the federal judiciary revised its policies for judges and judicial employees reporting sexual harassment in the workplace. Today, former employees are saying that the changes aren’t enough to make significant impact on the issue. Numerous former judicial clerks that were victims of sexual harassment spoke to the issue of retaliation to the House judiciary subcommittee. Deeva Shah, an employee at Law Clerks for Workplace Accountability, an organization of current and recent law clerks fighting harassment, testified on Thursday that to make a substantial impact on the issue the courts need to clarify the criteria to determine whether retaliation has occurred, and outline policies that state the possible remedies available to victims of retaliation.
