Thousands of junior doctors in England have gone on strike this week demanding higher pay, as some of these doctors-in-training are paid less than fast-food workers in the country. Over the past decade, inflation has caused these doctors to experience a pay cut in their real wages. The British Medical Association (BMA) union argues that junior doctors have been undervalued and overworked with high workloads. However, the government claims that the pay raise demands of the BMA are unreasonable.
