Jury Hears Statements in Wal - Mart Trial
In December 2002 a federal jury ruled unanimously that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. had violated federal and state law labor laws by forcing employees at the stores to work unpaid overtime from 1994 to 1999. Now a second jury panel will have to decide damages. Becky Roe, attorney for the former Wal-Mart employees, claims that the company altered time sheets so that workers were not fairly compensated for overtime hours. The attorney for Wal-Mart said that the company was only trying to encourage teamwork.
