Kan. House approves union PAC paycheck bill
The Kansas House approved a bill that would end voluntary deductions from worker's paychecks for political activities. The bill will also stop public workers' unions from endorsing candidates and spending money on political activities. Republicans said that the bill will give union members protection from unions endorsing candidates they do not believe in. Democrats said that the bill was retaliation for union support of Democrats. Some workers said that the bill was taking away their voice, and worried that the next piece of legislation would take away collective bargaining rights. The bill now goes to the Senate.
