Kellogg plant employees went on strike on Tuesday following the expiration of their current contract at midnight on Monday. About 1,400 employees went on strike at plants in Omaha, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Memphis, and more. The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union had been negotiating the terms of a new agreement for a while now, the president said that the company has “demanded that workers give up quality health care, retirement benefits, and holiday and vacation pay.” A Kellogg spokesperson said, “we are disappointed by the union’s decision to strike…our offer includes increase to pay and benefits for our employees.”
