Kentucky Ford EV battery plant workers will vote on whether to unionize
Workers at Kentucky’s BlueOval SK battery plant are voting this week on whether to join the United Auto Workers union. The facility, a nearly $6 billion venture between Ford and South Korea’s SK On, began producing EV batteries in August and is expected to eventually employ about 5,000 people. The vote follows complaints from employees over safety concerns and allegations that management tried to discourage union organizing. Ballots will be counted Wednesday evening, with the outcome potentially shaping both workplace conditions and the future of union efforts in the state’s auto industry.
