King Soopers workers in Colorado plan two-week strike starting Thursday
Thousands of King Soopers workers in Colorado will begin a two-week strike on Thursday after union members overwhelmingly voted in favor of the walkout. The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 has been negotiating with Kroger, the parent company, over wages, staffing, and benefits, but disputes over bargaining practices led the union to file unfair labor complaints. Workers argue that the company is breaking labor laws and trying to push through a contract that worsens conditions. Kroger has not responded publicly, but the strike could expand to more stores if negotiations remain unresolved.
