Kroger, store employees approve new labor contract
Kroger, the second-largest U.S. grocery retailer, and a local chapter of United Food and Commercial Workers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area recently signed a contract which will cover 92 stores employing 9,450 employees. Kroger is the only unionized chain retailer in the area, but still maintains a close second to Walmart as the area?s main grocer. The contract was approved ahead of the deadline. It includes wage and benefits increases, including health insurance coverage for full- and part-time employees. Both the union and the company had good things to say about the negotiations that led to the agreement.
