La. Business Owners Sue Over New Rules for Guest Workers
Louisiana business owners have filed a lawsuit against the Labor Department and the Department of Homeland Security over new regulations that change the rules for guest workers and require employers to sharply increase the amount they are paying. The businesses say that the new rules will cause them to lower employment and will have a chain reaction on other businesses in the area. The new rules are a result of changes meant to spur hiring of American workers. Employers say that seasonal jobs without benefits are extremely hard to fill with domestic workers. The new rules will go into effect September 30.
