Labor Board Chair’s Term Ending Means an NLRB of One for Now
With the term of NLRB Chair Marvin Kaplan ending, the agency is left with just one sitting member, Democrat David Prouty, and no chair in place. This marks only the second time in its history that the board has been reduced to a single member, leaving it unable to issue most rulings. The vacancy stems from President Trump’s dismissals of board members, including Gwynne Wilcox, and slow progress on confirming replacements. Trump has nominated two Republicans to fill open seats, but until the Senate acts, the board’s work remains largely stalled.
