Labor Board Republicans seen aiding employers in disputes
With the Senate confirmation of five U.S. labor board members yesterday, all seats on the National Labor Relations Board will be filled by confirmed members for the first time since President Obama took office in 2008. Aside from Democratic confirmations Nancy Schiffer, Kent Hirozawa and Mark Gaston Pearce, the Senate also confirmed two Republicans- Phil Miscimarra and Harry Johnson. The confirmations marked the end of a stalemate between the President and Senate Republicans over recess appointments that the president made in 2012. Employers are challenging a number of decisions that were made by recess appointment board members Sharon Block and Richard Griffin.
