Labor, Business Groups Join Forces to Press for Highway Bill
In a rare show of unity, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Automobile Association, and the Laborers? International Union of North America have joined to lobby Congress to approve a new highway bill that will deal with America?s failing infrastructure. The press briefing too place at the start of ?Infrastructure Week?, an annual awareness campaign that highlights where American infrastructure could use the most improvement and solutions to make the necessary change. The stalemate in Washington doesn?t stem from whether or not to fund America?s ailing bridges and roads, but rather how to fund the necessary projects. The Laborers? International have spent nearly $1 million in advertising in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan with the intention of spreading awareness regarding the unsafe infrastructure conditions within those states and Congress? inability to work together to resolve the issue.
