Labor chief charged after arrest at ICE raid
California union leader David Huerta has been charged with conspiracy to impede a federal officer after being arrested during a protest against an ICE operation in Los Angeles. Federal agents allege Huerta interfered with law enforcement by physically obstructing a vehicle and resisting orders to move. Supporters, including prominent lawmakers and SEIU leaders, argue that he was exercising his First Amendment rights and observing law enforcement conduct, calling his arrest troubling and unjust. Federal officials, however, maintain that Huerta’s actions disrupted a lawful operation and justified the arrest. A bond hearing is scheduled as the case draws national attention.
