Labor Dept. Doubles Benefit Recovery
The Labor Department's Employee Benefits Security Administration has reported recovering $2.85 billion in workers' retirement and health benefits from illegal transactions or fraud in the past year. The agency conducts investigations to ensure that no employee benefit plans are harmed. Employers can shield themselves from enforcement action and penalties by signing up for the agency's voluntary compliance program and taking steps to correct violations.
